Mr. Asad Salahuddin, Managing Partner of Lex Legal Practice has been appointed as a member of the standing committee on liaison with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority ("SMEDA") and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan ("SECP"). SMEDA is an autonomous institution of the Government of Pakistan under the Ministry of Industries and Production. SMEDA was established in October 1998 for encouraging and facilitating the development and growth of small and medium enterprises in the country.
The SECP was set up in pursuance of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997 and became operational on January 1, 1999. It has investigative and enforcement powers. The SECP was established with the objective of developing a modern and efficient corporate, insurance, NBFC and capital market sector in Pakistan.
